Igloo Hospital
Igloo Hospital is an In-house created project, developed in Unity.
It should be pre-installed on all outgoing Igloo Immersive Players as part of our Demo Content offering. It’s also a really good benchmark for how well the Igloo System is performing.
It’s designed to be a Hospital environment to create an immersive environment for role play activities for medical staff.
Starting Hospital
As part of the demo suit, Hospital will be pre-setup within the Igloo software. Either as an Icon within Igloo Home, or as a session available within ICE.
So to launch the software, it’s as simple as loading the session or selecting the Hospital icon within Igloo Home.
Controlling Hospital
With Hospital being built using the Unity based IglooToolkit, it has the ability to be controlled by all devices that are supported by the Igloo system. Including, but not limited to; Optitrack, VRPN, Xbox, Steam, Igloo Touch, and ICE control Panel.
Forwards direction is maintained by the crosshair on the Igloo output; pointing the crosshair and pressing Up on a controller or joystick will move the player towards the direction of the crosshair.
If moving up or down in the world is required, positioning the crosshair at the floor or ceiling and then pressing forward will cause the Igloo to float up or down respectively.
Hospital uses Xbox controls for interaction, with A B X Y as the standard controls available on Igloo Touch, and Xbox controllers.
Floor Plan
Interaction
It is possible to select and move most objects within the environment by hovering over them with the crosshair so that they turn Transparent Blue. Then select them with the A Button.
Once an object is selected, it will follow the players crosshair at it’s own pace. You can then rotate it using the X and B buttons.
Then when you’ve found a suitable location to place it, press the A Button with the crosshair on top of the object and it will de-select it.
If the object turns red, you cannot place it at that location.
The Menu
Pressing Y to open the menu will result in an on-screen menu like below. Where selecting an object will ‘spawn’ it infront of you, to then place in the room as you wish.
Clicking Options will allow you to adjust many settings, and also quickly teleport between the Ward and The Hospital
It also allows you to save and load the current hospital layout for future use.
