Igloo Fire Safety
Igloo Fire Safety is an In-house created project, developed in Unity.
It should be pre-installed on all outgoing Igloo Immersive Players as part of our Demo Content offering.
It has a simple method of interactivity, complete with a task system. It was ground-up designed to be an Igloo training demonstration regarding what’s possible within an Igloo using a Games Engine.
Starting Fire Safety
As part of the demo suit, Fire Safety will be setup within the Igloo software. Either as an Icon within Igloo Home, or as a session available within ICE.
So to launch the software, it’s as simple as loading the session or selecting the Fire Safety icon within Igloo Home.
Controlling Fire Safety
With Fire Safety being built using the Unity based IglooToolkit, it has the ability to be controlled by all devices that are supported by the Igloo system. Including, but not limited to; Optitrack, VRPN, Xbox, Steam, Igloo Touch, and ICE control Panel.
Forwards direction is maintained by the crosshair on the Igloo output; pointing the crosshair and pressing Up on a controller or joystick will move the player towards the direction of the crosshair.
If moving up or down in the world is required, positioning the crosshair at the floor or ceiling and then pressing forward will cause the Igloo to float up or down respectively.
Interaction
Within the level are a number of interactive elements, which are part of a test. To start the test walk towards the laptop by the main door.
This will begin a test, where you will need to Click each fire extinguisher in the level that is obstructed in some way.
This is achieved by moving the red Crosshair dot onto a fire extinguisher and moving towards it until it turns Green. Then clicking either the A button, Left mouse button, or the standard interaction button (depending on control interface) will ‘select’ that fire extinguisher.
Once you’ve found as many as you think there are, return to the laptop for part 2 of the test.
There will be a pallet of new fire extinguishers behind you, which can be selected.
You will then ‘equip’ a fire extinguisher by holding down the select button, and then letting go at a suitable location of your choosing (this is being tested, so describing the locations is cheating)
Once you’ve placed the Fire Extinguishers you can return to the laptop and select it a final time. This will mark the end of the test where you will get a score, the option to retry or close the application, and details for the Moodle LMS login.
If you missed any fire extinguishers a list of ‘fails’ will be listed for you to reflect upon.
