The Wild

The Wild is a VR Collaboration tool for the Building Industry.

It’s currently part of the Autodesk VR offering, after being recently acquired by the Autodesk Group.

It enables multiple users to view and edit a virtual environment within VR, including an Igloo space.

At this point, you may also want to download the Sketchup, Revit, or Bim360 Add-In depending on your project pipeline.

Once downloaded and installed, additional steps are required to setup The Wild for the first time.

Setting up The Wild for Igloo use

In order for Igloo Rendering to be active, create an environment variable in Windows and name it “WILD_IGLOO” and set it’s value to 1.

All igloo related settings can be applied via command line arguments, and via OSC input.

This doesn’t yet ‘start’ the igloo output; This is achieved by pressing 'I' when running The Wild and a model is currently open.

Viewing the Igloo Output

  • Ensure that your Igloo software is running

  • Start The Wild; Login; and Open a model. (The Wild can be set as an Icon on Igloo Home)

  • Once a model is open, press 'I' to start the Spout output to the Igloo Software.

  • Within your Igloo Software you should now be able to see TheWild as a Spout input.

  • The Wild will now visible on the Igloo Structure’s walls, and controllable with Xbox or Mouse and Keyboard.

Navigation within The Wild

Moving around a model is done via keyboard and mouse, or Xbox / Steam controller, or Igloo Touch. Just like any other unity based Igloo software.

Selecting buttons and clicking on parts of the software is done with Spacebar or A button (xbox / Igloo Touch)

Hitting Shift, Right mouse button, or X button (Xbox / Igloo) to jump to the next saved view

Lastly pressing Circle (xbox / Igloo) will de-select the currently selected part of the model.
