Igloo Reflect
Igloo Reflect is an extension of Unity Reflect, which allows you to conduct immersive reviews, and connect design and construction. Bring multiple BIM models with all their metadata to real-time 3D and maintain a live link between them.
You can use Igloo Reflect to bring Revit, Navisworks, BIM360, SketchUp, and Rhino projects into a real time 3D scene.
Installation
Download IglooReflectSetup.exe, by requesting it from your Igloo Advocate.
Run the setup wizard, following the on screen instructions.
Consider at this time the location of the installation, as often the C:// drive is not large enough.
Once the setup wizard is complete, you will have the option to run Igloo Reflect. You can also find Igloo Reflect in the Start menu, and by using the search function.
Starting Igloo Reflect
Ensure the Igloo Warper is running.
Ensure the Igloo Control app is running.
Start Igloo Reflect from the start menu, or using the windows search function.
Within the Igloo Warper GUI (or via the control app, or Touch OSC) Enable the Reflect external application.
Reflect is now active, and you should see a black warper output with a crosshair.
Signing In
Igloo Reflect, will look like this:
Igloo Reflect requires the following to be able to sign in.
A Unity Account (Standard or Pro)
An Igloo Reflect Unity Subscription, activated on the same account.
With both of those accounted for, click the user icon.
A web page should open, allowing you to sign in to your Unity account. Once complete, it should re-open Igloo Reflect, and you should now be signed in. This will be shown by your name in the upper right hand corner.
If you have any projects, they will appear on the relevant page based on their location. If you don’t have a project, please follow the relevant guide below to create one.
To create an Igloo Reflect project, please follow an appropriate guide below.
Opening a Project
Local Projects
Local projects are found beneath the Local tab on the project menu.
Projects not local to the IMP you’re using will have the name of the machine instead. These projects cannot be opened, despite having the open and download buttons illuminated blue.
A local project can be opened immediately, and does not require to be downloaded. Selecting the project will open it. If you click the Sync button, it will open the project in Sync mode.
Cloud Projects
Cloud projects are beneath the Cloud tab and require downloading. You can open it without downloading, but it will be a while before the project is usable.
To download the project, click the 3 dots next to the sync icon, and then click the blue Download button.
If the project is already downloaded, opening the project will be faster. There is currently no identification method for already downloaded projects. This will be added later in the roadmap.
Network Projects
Network projects are found beneath the Network tab, and are hosted on a machine on your local area network (LAN) and also require to be downloaded. This will be much faster than a cloud download, so is useful for extremely large and complex projects.
Viewing a Project
Clicking the Open button on a Local or Cloud project will being the loading process. You will see the model being built around you inside the igloo, as the various parts of it are loaded into the scene. Once complete you will be able to move around using the joystick on your controller. The world will be filled with Blue blocks, which are the locations of various assets. As they are imported they will turn into various models.
This is the basic Igloo Reflect experience, and you are now able to navigate around your model in a 360 immersive environment.
Reflect Sync
To enable the Reflect Sync feature, whereby project edits can be viewed as they are made in the original program, click the Sync icon, or open the project in Sync mode. (A line through the icon, means sync is off)
Once it turns green, sync is active, and changes made to the cloud model will automatically be updated in the scene.
Lighting Controls
To adjust the sun, and its lighting effect on your model, click the Sun icon. A menu will appear like the image below.
Adjusting these sliders by clicking on the slider bar in a new location, will adjust the appropriate setting related to the suns position in the sky, and it’s effect on the model regarding lighting, and shadows. You can also use the radial menu on the right to select a day in the year, and the time of day.
