(1.3.0) Canvas UI - Video Conferencing
This tutorial works through presenting the gallery view of participants on a Video Conference using a VC tool such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
Tutorial Video
Starting the Call
Start or join the Video Conference on a separate Windows device such as a laptop or Surface Pro. The device should have a microphone and speakers attached.
Capturing the Call
NDI Tools will need to be installed on the Windows device (available from: https://ndi.tv/about-ndi/ )
The next step is to capture the VC application window. This can be done using the Screen Capture tool which is part of NDI Tools.
Screen Capture will create NDI senders of each of the monitors attached to the Windows device.
The fullscreen captures can be refined to a specific area of the screen using the Region of Interest option in Screen Capture.
Click on the taskbar and show the hidden icons box (up arrow button). Right-click on the NDI Screen Capture logo and select Configure RoI from the Capture Settings menu. Position and resize the Region of Interest window over the gallery view in the VC application window.
Presenting the Call
Select Add Content > New > NDI on the Canvas Toolbar. This will show a list of available NDI senders. Select the item which corresponds to the Screen Capture of the VC call. The gallery view will now be displayed on the canvas and can be scaled and positioned using Edit mode.
TIP: Set the gallery view layer to be a pinned layer so it is not deleted when returning to the homescreen or loading a session.
TIP: In the Desktop UI, General tab, the layer can be set to ‘Lock to Front’, which will keep the layer in front of any other layer. This is especially useful for VC gallery layers.
