This guide provides an overview of how to apply, adjust, and manage effects in layers within Igloo Core Engine. Effects can significantly alter the visual output of layers, and when combined, they form an Effects Chain. The order of these effects in the chain is crucial in determining the final visual output.

Managing Effects

  • Adding an Effect: To add an effect to a layer, select the desired effect from the effects list. Multiple effects can be combined to create an Effects Chain.

  • Adjusting Effect Parameters: Once an effect is added, you can fine-tune its parameters by selecting the effect from the list and adjusting its settings.

  • Removing an Effect: To remove an effect from the chain, right-click on it and select ‘Remove’.

  • Reordering Effects: Change the order of effects using the up/down arrow buttons. The order impacts the final visual output.

Effect Types

Each effect type serves a unique purpose.

Invert

Inverts the layer in the X or Y axis, offering a mirrored effect.

Cubemap to Equirectangular

Converts between the selected Cubemap Format and Equirectangular.

True Perspective

The True Perspective effect is a powerful tool for extracting a corrected perspective view from a 360 Layer. It's designed to accommodate various display geometries (Cylinder, Immersive Room, etc.) and can adjust perspectives for different viewing locations, all in real-time!

Requirements:

  • Igloo Setup Application: Necessary for generating the True Perspective calibration files (Igloo Core Engine).

Parameters:

  • Heading: Rotates the content left and right.

  • Pitch: Rotates the content up and down.

  • Direction: Sets the direction of the pitch.

  • Show Rotation Guide: Displays a line on the canvas to visualize the pitch direction.

  • Custom Head Position:

    • Enabled: Allows setting a custom head position for this layer.

    • Disabled: Uses the global head position found in General Settings (Config > General > Misc > True Perspective Head Position).

See Desktop UI - Handling 360-degree Content for an example of how True Perspective can be used

Plane to Equirectangular

This effect transforms flat images into 360-degree equirectangular projections.

Usage:

  • Ideal for converting standard non-360 content or graphics into a 360-degree view.

Parameters:

  • Adjustment Settings: Customize how the flat image is projected onto the equirectangular format, including scaling and positioning adjustments.

  • Field of View: Control the extent of the scene captured in the projection.

  • Orientation Controls: Adjust the orientation of the image within the 360-degree space to achieve the desired perspective.
