The Loopback layer allows existing layers to be duplicated and displayed in different locations on the canvas. This feature is particularly useful for layers that do not inherently synchronise their inputs.

Useful for

  • Videos:

  • WebViews

  • PDFs:

Not useful for

  • Images

  • Capture Cards (Datapath / Blackmagic)

  • NDI

  • Spout

Practical Applications

  • Presentation Aid: Duplicate a PowerPoint presentation running in a WebView to another region of the canvas as a reference for the presenter

  • Tiling Videos: Play the same video in sync across different regions

  • Educational Environments: Ensures that all students have a clear view of the content, beneficial in large classrooms where visibility might be obstructed.
