Combining multiple layers together can be a powerful way to display different sources of related content side-by-side. These are known as dashboards and can give an at-a-glance view of the status of a complex design, project or system.
Defining Regions of the Canvas
Layers can be positioned and sized anywhere on the canvas. This gives a high level of flexibility in how the dashboard can be laid out.
It can be useful, however, to have preset regions so layers can quickly be moved to favourite areas, without the need to manipulate them directly.
Select Config > Layouts. This pops up the Layouts dialog. The Default Layout contains 4 regions, each is an equal quarter of the canvas, arranged horizontally. The extent of each regions can be adjusted using the sliders Left, Right, Top, Bottom.
