Intro:

Igloo Settings tool is an application used to generate custom test cards to assist in content creation, and a CameraSettings xml file to enable Igloo True Perspective. In this example we’ll be creating a 3m cube.

Screen Specification & Eye position:

In this tab, we’ll configure the eye position, and specify the dimensions of the screen. All of these values are relative, but using actual measurements will work too.

  • Eye position:

    • 0,0,0 is the default set of values, and indicates the exact centre of the space. This should be sufficient for most installs but can be edited if required. Notice in the following picture, the image has shifted up, with some of the content from a floor panel now in display:

  • The Left, Front, Right, Back, Top and Bottom check boxes are going to allow us to define which regions are being projected onto. In this example we’re doing a 3m cube, so will select Left, Front, Right and Back, although Bottom could be added if floor projection is specified, and Top could be added if ceiling projection is specified

  • Width, Depth and Height are asking for measurements of the projection screen - for width and depth this is likely the same as the structure, but screen heights can vary based on the projectors in use and height in the room. For this example we’ll assume a 2m screen height

Canvas:

The Canvas tab allows the definition of the software canvas. The aspect ratio is locked to match the screen specification, although individual values can be updated.

Setting the canvas width to 8000 for instance will see all other values double:

Additionally, we can interface with the box faces to re-order where the projectors are, logically. If we were using a datapath fx4 (or otherwise were just working in a 2x2 configuration) we could organise the canvas regions as such:

Projectors

Used for test card generation, the Projectors tab allows personalization of the test cards.

Grid Spacing, Grid Thickness and Font scale are purely visual changes. A test card preview is at the bottom of the screen to help visualise the effects of changes.

Each viewer can also be edited to increase the number of projectors. To add a second projector to the left viewer, for instance, we’d change the number of columns to 2:

Export:

Allows the exporting of the files generated. Export TruePerspective will produce the CameraSettings.xml which should be placed in the Igloo Capture and IglooWeb folders, and Export Warper will produce the AppSettings.xml and the test image
