Configuration for Different Immersive Spaces

Igloo Core Engine can be configured to support multiple immersive spaces with different physical dimensions and screen layouts. Some settings must be modified to in order to allow this.

Global Settings

There are two global settings that must be manually updated when swapping configuration for different immersive spaces:

  1. 3D Model for Screen Preview

    • This model provides the visualization of the immersive room and its screens.

    • Location: C:\ProgramData\Igloo Vision\IglooCoreEngine\models\ScreenModel.obj

  2. TruePerspective.xml File

    • This file contains calibration data for perspective correction of 360 content.

    • Location: C:\ProgramData\Igloo Vision\IglooCoreEngine\settings\TruePerspective.xml

Steps

  1. Navigate to the directory where the 3D model and TruePerspective.xml files are stored.

  2. Replace the current files with those corresponding to the desired immersive space.

    • Ensure the file names remain consistent to avoid manual path adjustments in the application.

  3. Restart the Igloo Core Engine to apply the changes.

  4. This process could also be automated using windows batch files.

Alternatively, both the TruePerspective.xml file and the 3D Model file can be hot swapped directly in the application. Simply drag the desired file from Windows Explorer into the ICE application window, one file at a time. This allows for quicker updates without needing to restart the application.

Keep a backup of these files for each space to facilitate easy swapping between configurations.

Creating Space-Specific Layouts

Rather than using the global Default Layout, it is recommended to create a unique layout for each immersive space. Layouts define the arrangement of content and are crucial for tailoring the user experience to each room's physical characteristics.

Steps to Create a New Layout

  1. Open the Config > Layouts window in the Igloo Core Engine.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Customise the layout to match the immersive space properties.

  4. Save the layout with a descriptive name, e.g., RoomA_Layout or RoomB_Layout
