IT Readiness
Before we can install an Igloo System, there is some prerequisite information that our install team requires in order to ensure that connectivity to your network is working correctly (either for internet access, or - when requested - for areas on the corporate network to be accessible).
Physical Cabling Expectations
To connect our security appliance to your network, we will require a standard RJ45 ethernet connection. This can either be a port on a wall which is patched into the relevant network, or in the cases where we are to install in a server room, please provide us with which switch and port we need to connect to - or leave a marked cable in the cabinet for us to use.
Subnet and DHCP Information / Expectations
Typically, our security appliance will pick up a DHCP lease from your network and autoconfigure network settings provided by that. To confirm that this is working as expected, please provide us with the DHCP range we can expect the device to pick up on the WAN interface.
We may also require DNS server addresses in cases where this is not configured by DHCP. We will often default to Google (quad 8) or Cloudflare (quad 1), though if external DNS traffic is blocked we must be provided with the appropriate DNS server for the subnet we will be connected to.
Proxy Expectations
If Internet Access requires traversal of a proxy firewall, we will need to be aware as this affects the security appliance which we specify in the contract. We will need credentials to log in to the proxy with, alternately we can provide you with the MAC address of the security appliance, and your IT team can set up an exception for relevant web traffic (either everything, or for greater security, just Windows and device firmware update servers can be whitelisted).
See Network Requirements for a detailed overview of internet traffic that an Igloo Network typically requires.
