The Unity 3D Model Viewer is a Unity Based application which has been designed to seamlessly import and display a wide range of 3D model formats, and supports both 2D and 3D projection.

It is currently in an alpha stage, but does support a range of features.

Installing & Starting The Model Viewer

Download from here, unzip the folder, then select the “Model Viewer” application.

Please note these haven’t been extensively tested yet.

How to load a model

To load a model in you simply click the “Load Model from File” button at the top on the server display. After which you will shown a file browser to navigate to the desired location. A sub folder has been included with some example 3D models at “Model Viewer\ModelViewer-0.1\Igloo3DModels”.

Features

Load Model from File - Loads the desired 3D model from a location on the server.

Load Model from URL - Loads a 3D model from a desired URL. (Untested)

Save Placement - Saves the rotation and scale of an object. (Will automatically load if the object is loaded back into the scene)

Load Placement - Load the saved rotation and scale.

Load Skybox from File - Load a HDRI file as the skybox.

Clear Skybox - Clear the HDRI file.

Skybox Exposure - Increase or decrease the skybox brightness.

Skybox Colour - Change the skybox colour.

Apply Colour - Apply the colour of the selected option in skybox colour.

Object Scale - Change the scale of the object uniformly (x,y,z)

1x - Scale factors of 1.

10x - Scale factors of 10.

100x - Scale factors of 100.

Rotate - Quick rotate buttons.

X - Spin the object in the X axis 90 degrees.

Y - Spin the object in the Y axis 90 degrees.

Z - Spin the object in the Z axis 90 degrees.

Load Lights - Not functioning currently, but will import lights added from 3D modelling software.

Lock Rotation - Not functioning.

Controls

X - Scaling mode (Press once to enable, and again to disable)

Scaling mode - Wherever you are pointing your device becomes your “zero value”, tilting or aiming the device upwards will increase the scale of the object, and tilting or aiming the device downwards will decrease the scale based on how far you stray away from the zero value.

Y - Not used

A - Enabled lock to device rotation.

B - Disable lock to device rotation.

Device rotation - How you move your device will be how the model moves (if you turn your device to the left, the model will turn to the left)

Movement - As is with every other Igloo application.
