A guide on installing, running, and adding your own movies content to the igloo virtual Igloo Virtual system.
Prerequisites
- You should already have either an Oculus Rift headset, or a HTC Vive headset.
- If you have never used your headset before, please take the time to run through the headset setup procedure, including any additional tutorials that begin on startup.
- You should have your headset, plugged in, and started up, and ready to go.
Initial Setup
- Extract all Unzip the files to a suitable location. This could be somewhere as simple as your desktop.
Image Removed - Before we jump into the IglooVirtual_2.7.exe file, we should first look at adding your content to the system. To do this, open the IglooVirtual_2.7_Data file, and navigate to StreamingAssets
Image Removed - The StreamingAssets folder is where you need to place any content you have, the content supported will match what will work in a real igloo. This includes:
- Hap Encoded AVI
- Hap Encoded MOV
- ProRes Encoded AVI
- Mp4
- AVI
- JPG Stills
- PNG Stills
- Copy any content here before you start the program. It may not work otherwise, and you will need to restart IglooVirital_2.7.exe.
- In the StreamingAssets folder folder structure to somewhere accessible, like your desktop.
- Open the Igloo Virtual 3.xx folder, and move the Igloo folder to the root of your C: Drive so that you end up with the igloo folder at the highest level.
Image Added - Open the Igloo folder, and navigate to the Install First directory, and systematically install each of the required pieces of software.
Go into the software subfolder, and start the programIglooWarper-Windows-v1.15.7\Igloo360Warper-Windows.exe, and IglooControl-Windows-v1.38.0\IglooControl.exe

- Stretch and spin content
- Control Fading
- Control Looping
- Pause and Play content
Move to the Igloo/Software/IglooVirtual 3.xx folder, and launch Igloo Virtual 3.xx.exe
texturesInfo title Changing Cylinder Covers Whilst in this folder you can also access the Igloo Virtual 3.xx_Data folder which contains the StreamingAssets folder, where there is also a folder named IglooTextures, this is where you should place any textures that you would like to see displayed on the igloo structures.
Please overwrite the current texture, to see your texture within igloo virtual.
Please save the
themtexture in the following format before adding
it.
JPG - 6330px x 1617px- Textures saved are primarily used for the cylinder outer covers, however the average colour of the texture will also be applied to the domes, when the texture is active. Therefore if you wish to just see a different dome colour, please make a texture of that colour and save it in the IglooTextures folder.
Running Igloo Virtual
- You can now double click IglooVirtual_2.7.exe from your desktop, and put on your Headset - However it is recommended you read the rest of this guide before doing so. You will be greeted by the following view.
- To play the next piece of content, Grip your Left Controller to make a fist. This will bring up the following menu. You can then interact with it using your right hand. Similar to how an artist would use a paint palette.
Image Removed - From here you can also flip the menu over, to view the piece of content you are currently playing. There is a small bug in the system, and if you are playing the last thing on the list, it doesn’t turn yellow
Image Removed - You can now Teleport out and switch between domes, whilst watching the same piece of content to see how it looks in each structure.
Some structures aren't available yet as they are not 3D modeled fully. - Put on your HMD and you will be within igloo virtual.
Controlling Igloo Showroom
